Trekking trips start direct from the centre. We offer day trips
and overnight tours with camping or bivouacs. The trekking tours
begin with a pleasant ascent through Birch and pine forests on
good footpaths before we break out of the tree-line at a round 600m
over sea level. The terrain is rugged as the treks run parallel
with the Setesdal Valley. Årdalsknapen is a popular view
point and often a target for a day trip. From the top there
are fine views of the mountains stretching north to the Hardanger
Vidda. We can provide tents and Trangia stoves for overnight treks.
All trips are guided and educational with information on the flora
& fauna, geology and mountain leadership skills being an
important part of any trek.
A popular combination is with a Canoe trip with either a half
day trekking and half day canoeing or a full day of each. As you
descend to Byglandsfjord we will have the canoes ready and waiting
for your return trip down the lake.
